Checking in with our third installment of Notes from the Studio! Highlights from the last two months include the addition of two new employees to the Collab team, construction kicking off on our new office space in Windsor, and several projects and community events that made the summer breeze by. Check out our recap of recent projects and happenings below.
Live – TPC CUSTOM HOME
This lakefront custom home at Heron Lakes has been a family affair since project kickoff. Our team has worked closely with the owner and his family to create a one of a kind home that embraces the big views and natural features of the area. Project details include massive decks, a custom boat ramp, tall vaulted ceilings with large windows, and a 2nd story VIP suite with private deck. Construction and interior finishes are being completed with Springhaus Construction.
LEARN – MAPLETON PUBLIC SCHOOLS WAREHOUSE RENOVATION
Collab was recently awarded the Mapleton Public School District Warehouse renovation project. The focus of this project will be to renovate or redesign the nutritional storage warehouse to accommodate more cold and dry food storage for the school district. We are excited to kick off the school year with this and find a solution to better serve the needs of the district.
WORK – ADVANCED ENERGY HEADQUARTERS REMODEL
This is a multi-phase project that we have been tackling with DS Constructors for the Advanced Energy campus in Fort Collins. We just wrapped construction on Phase 1with interior renovations to the 15,000 SF main office. The team is now focused on the designs for Phase II which include exterior improvements and the addition of ramps, patios, and outdoor spaces. Our goal was to create an inviting environment that offered inclusive access while enhancing the employee experience by creating indoor/outdoor opportunities and flexible working conditions. Concurrently, we are working on Phase III and the addition of a cleanroom.
Play –ANNUAL STAFF RETREAT
June marked the two year anniversary of Collab! Our team celebrated in style with a belated staff retreat and spa day in Denver. Nothing like a little goal setting and pampering to go into year three feeling inspired and refreshed! As always, we are so grateful to our clients and colleagues over the last couple years.
Experience – PHASE III AT THE BEARPAW COMPLEX
Collab has been working with Roche Constructors on a new retail complex in Greeley. This development complements the pre-existing Bearpaw retail center and will include tenants such as Chicken Salad Chick, Thrive Veterinary Clinic, and a potential future restaurant.
TEAM SPOTLIGHT
KALA Bailor, AIA, Project Architect
We are extremely excited to welcome Kala Bailor to our team as Project Architect. She brings a depth of experience in multi-family and affordable housing as well as public works and hospitality. Her fresh perspective and excitement for problem solving has already proven to be an asset to the team.
In addition to her design chops, she makes a pretty mean chocolate chip cookie and was a 2002 NJCAA D1 Women’s Softball Nationals participant.

We are sad to see summer come to a close! There have been so many great outdoor events that we have loved being a part of.
Our team sponsored the Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity Hammer n’ Ale event in July. There’s nothing we love more than good beer, good food, and a great cause!
Joe and Jordan have been sweeping the golf scene! They checked off a bucket list course and secured 3rd in the Colonel’s Challenge Charity Golf Tournament for the Colorado State Patrol Family Foundation. Additionally, they secured 2nd in the CSU Everett Golf Tournament at Harmony Club.
Big thank you to Integrated Mechanical for treating a few of the Collab women and our female colleagues to a ladies bingo night at Copper Muse!
School is kicking back into gear and Jordan is preparing to begin another year with the ACE Mentor program. This program gives students the opportunity to explore different paths in the architecture, construction, and engineering fields.
