    Rist Canyon Exterior Elevation
As we dive into the start of November, we have so much to be thankful for! We’re checking in with our 4th installment of Notes from the Studio and filling you in on our latest projects, our upcoming Gingerbread Showdown, and some personal and professional wins within the firm.

Live   // RIST CANYON CUSTOM HOME

Our latest custom home project is set in Rist Canyon. Our team has been working closely with the client to create a mountain modern design that embraces the surroundings through expansive windows, tiered patios, and an organic material palette. This project site is very unique as it sits on a ridge, and has nearly 270 degrees of views! There’s nothing better than the process of helping a client put their vision to paper.

Learn   // GREEN BUILD CONFERENCE 2022

Today, our architects are en route to San Francisco for the 2022 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo! Presented in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council, the 2022 Greenbuild Conference will be an amazing opportunity for our architects to network and hone their skills in utilizing the most up-to-date sustainability practices. There will be a lot to see and learn about and we can’t wait to hear about all the cutting edge practices our architects will have to share with us.

    work  //   Post Modern Development

We love any project that places us in Old Town Fort Collins. Most recently, we have been working with Post Modern Development on the design and renovation of their Linden Street office. This project focuses on both interior and exterior renovations, but we are most excited about the alley facing improvements. These will replace an existing, uninsulated metal panel wall with a brick facade to better complement the historic feel and look of the building while providing the client with a polished and inviting entrance.

    Gingerbread Showdown
Join us at our new office for the…
    Gingerbread Showdown!
    Benefitting Larimer County Food Bank

We are fast approaching the holiday season and with that we pay special attention to our family, friends, colleagues, and the community. In the spirit of strengthening those connections, giving back, and spreading some good old fashion holiday cheer, we have decided that a little friendly gingerbread build-off is the way to go!

What began as an idea for a friendly in-house competition among colleagues, quickly turned into something much bigger (cue the discussions of candy-cane skyscrapers, pretzel clad cottages, and twizzlered tudors). We realized there was an opportunity to grow this idea into a way to support the Larimer County Food Bank this holiday season and get kids and the ACE community involved.

On December 9th from 4pm-8-pm, we will be inviting 12 build teams (4-6 kids) to join us for a Gingerbread Showdown! Each team will be supervised by an engineer or architect to design a gingerbread creation that will be submitted to win a grand prize. We will be following up with more details next week on how to help sponsor the event, register your team, and ensure that our community members in need have access to the food and personal supplies necessary to make their holidays as bright as our own.

If you are interested in being involved, shoot erica@collabarchitects.com an email to get more information on sponsorship opportunities and more.

experience   //   CASA Harmony house renovation & Addition

We are extremely excited to announce that we will be working with CASA of Larimer County on the renovations and an addition to the historic Harmony House. As an organization that does so much to improve the lives and experiences of children who have endured abuse or neglect, we feel honored to play a part in enhancing the spaces that support their work and mission. We are extremely grateful to all our sub-consultants that are a part of this project team and look forward to seeing this project come to life.

    Team Spotlight

    Jordan Lockner, AIA
    2022 YOUNG DESIGNER AWARDEE

Join us in congratulating our own Jordan Lockner on being announced the recipient of the 2022 Environmental Design – Young Designer Award from the University of Colorado at Boulder! The award was presented to Jordan at a presentation and lecture last week and kicked off a series of events that Jordan will attend to help support CU Boulder’s Environmental Design students over the next year.

Congratulations Jordan on your achievement! We know your passion for sustainable design, along with your love of mentorship will aid you in what will be a busy and personally rewarding 2023!

    Collab in the Community

We’ve been really busy in the studio but we couldn’t do it without the support of our team, their families, and the community. Because of this, it has been important to us to have some fun, and to show up where we can to support our peers and the organizations they believe in.

    Q3 Team Outing

Well, we planned on using the early September heatwave to our advantage to spend a day on the reservoir, but mother nature decided differently. The day we set aside for our Q3 Boat Outing was the first day in weeks the temperature dropped well below 90 degrees so we quickly had to come up with a plan B – axe throwing! What better way for our team to bond and let loose than enjoying tacos at the Rio and some target practice at Greeley Hatchet House.

    Collab Team Celebrating Kaylyn
    Kaylyn Welcomes Baby Boy

If you didn’t know already, we like to find reasons to celebrate our team members and their families. We didn’t have to look too hard for a reason to celebrate Architect Kaylyn Charlesworth and her husband Tim. With Tim’s help, we were able to host a small surprise baby shower for Kaylyn at The Farmhouse at Jessup Farms. Soon after the celebration, Kaylyn began her maternity leave and within days we received word that a healthy baby was welcomed by the couple. Please join us in congratulating them both on the start of this busy and exciting new chapter!

CREW Northern Colorado 4th Annual Bocce Ball Blast & Tournament

Well, you can’t win ’em all, but you can ensure your time does some good! Winning first is exactly what our Collab team did not do this year for CREW of Northern Colorado’s annual Bocce Ball tournament. CREW is an organization on a mission to transform the commercial real estate industry by advancing women globally. In spite of getting 2nd, we had a great time meeting new people and advancing a great cause. Congrats to Bone Dry Roofing on a job well done. We’ll be practicing for next year’s event!

    Respite Ball

In just over a month we will attend the 40th annual Respite Care Holiday Ball. It’s an incredible event, but better than that it is a chance to support one of Larimer County’s nonprofit gems. At Respite Care their mission is to provide short-term quality care for children with developmental disabilities and in turn provide some respite to their families, enabling them to enhance their quality of life. They are doing truly great work and we are excited to support such an amazing local organization dedicated to helping local families. Interested in donating or sponsoring? Click here!

    We’re Moving!

At the end of November, we will be moving into our new office in Windsor. You can find us:
