Reimagining a Community Landmark: The City of Ouray Bathhouse

The City of Ouray Bathhouse Replacement is a cornerstone project that blends history, identity, and vision to create a modern, community-focused destination. As a key part of the city’s heritage and a major draw for visitors, the existing facility no longer meets the evolving needs of residents or the city’s thriving tourism population.

Collab Architecture led a comprehensive public participation process, engaging school-aged children, city staff, and community members to ensure the design reflects local values and aspirations. The new 12,000-square-foot facility is designed to enhance both community and visitor experiences, featuring a fitness center, community spaces, locker rooms, concessions, administrative offices, and flexible-use areas. Outdoor elements such as shade structures, a rooftop deck with panoramic views, and integrated connections to Fellin Park will transform the Bathhouse into a hub for relaxation and recreation.

As part of the project, Collab is developing conceptual designs, cost estimates, and reports to support the City in securing additional funding. By reimagining this cherished space, the new Bathhouse will honor Ouray’s legacy while creating a welcoming and functional environment for generations to come.
