Collab partnered with the San Luis Valley Housing Coalition to reimagine the historic Boyd School site as a vibrant affordable housing community. Our team led feasibility studies, community engagement, concept design, and cost estimation—ultimately advancing the design to a bid-level set to help support funding and grant applications. The project carries an estimated construction value of over $31 million.
The design repurposes the 34,000 SF school into 19 residential units, an early childhood education center, community gathering areas, and administrative offices. An additional 32 residential units, a playground, community garden, and amphitheater are planned across the adjacent 1.94-acre site.
Rooted in community input, the design thoughtfully blends modern livability with the preservation of the school's historic character, transforming a local landmark into a place of connection, opportunity, and belonging.
