PrivateLakeside Luxury with Montana Roots: A Custom Retreat in The Rookery
This 9,000-square-foot custom home in the gated Rookery area of Heron Lakes was designed to blend the rugged outdoor lifestyle with modern luxury. The home, overlooking Lonetree Reservoir with views of Longs Peak, was crafted for a private client and his family, drawing inspiration from their Montana roots.
Principal Jordan Lockner and Job Captain Andrea Eichacker of Collab Architecture worked closely with the homeowners and interior designer, Alison Schuman of Springhaus, to combine reclaimed wood, stone, metal, and glass, balancing rustic warmth with sleek, contemporary design. Key features include expansive west-facing windows that frame the Rocky Mountains, a vaulted ceiling with reclaimed wood beams, a massive patinated fireplace, and custom light fixtures. Also incorporated into the design is a chef’s kitchen with accordion windows opening to an outdoor kitchen, a spacious deck that feels like it floats above the water, and a basement complete with a full bar, game area, and a private dock leading to the lake.
Purposeful spaces include a cozy primary suite with clay-textured walls and radiant heated floors, a bunk room for grandchildren with a lodge-like ambiance, and an exercise room with a sauna. Every detail, from the custom finishes to the thoughtful layout, reflects a deep connection to nature while maintaining modern elegance.
